Aim: to present the outcome of surgical correction of involutional lower lid entropion through transconjunctival route
Methods: retrospective single surgeon case series of lower lid involutional entropion correction by plication of lower lid retractor muscle through transconjunctival incision.
Results: 27 eyes of 23 patients were operated via transconjunctival incision under local anaesthesia.18 eyes required additional lateral tarsal strip to correct horizontal lid laxity.7cases underwent simultaneous transconjunctival blepharoplasty. All 27[100%] cases resulted in successful correction of entropion . Recurrent entropion noted in one case after 10 months which required revision surgery (Jone’s procedure).
Conclusion: Transconjunctival entropion correction is an effective technique with high success rate and low recurrence. By addressing all three pathophysiologic mechanism of lower lid senile entropion, this technique yields stable correction with excellent postoperative cosmesis.
