Treatment of pterygium is essentially surgical excision. However, recurrence at the site of surgery is the mostcommon unacceptable complication. With changing time, various modifications in surgical technique havebeen tried with varying success rates. During the past decade, the debate over the best approach to pterygiumsurgery has centred on whether to use sutures or fibrin glue to affix the conjunctival graft. But in latest twist;a novel approach, in which the patient’s own blood is used for fixation. This instruction course will covervarious surgical options in the management of pterygium. The topics here will demonstrate various surgicaltechniques, graft fixation and adjunctive measures in achieving recurrence – free pterygium surgery.
