Frequent swings in uncontrolled glucose levels make diabetics more susceptible to developing cortical cata-ract much earlier. Diabetics have a higher risk of complications and subsequent limitation of vision. Diabeticshaving uncontrolled glucose levels are more susceptible to recurrent epithelial erosion and dry eye. They alsohave decreased endothelial cell count and have a higher incidence of POAG. Doing a pre and post operativeOCT of Macula to rule out Diabetic Macular Edema ( DME ) is a must. Pre operative management of DME ismandatory. Longer cataract surgical time worsens pre existing diabetic retinopathy. Posterior Capsule Opaci-fication and Dry Eye are common after Cataract Surgery in diabetics.
