Background-Vitreous hemorrhage is one of common causes for sudden painless loss of vision.
Methods:Retrospective study was conducted in 84 patients who presented with vitreous hemorrhage from Jul’17- Dec’18.Analysis of records -demographic data,history,details of ocular examination including B-scan, BCVA at presentation and final visit were noted. Ass systemic conditions and investigations were noted with management details.
Results:86% of vitreous hemorrhage patients were males. 95% patients had only one eye affected. 57% -age group 40-60 yrs. Left eye -66%. Lower SES – most commonly affected.57% – PDR as etiology.B-scan best investigation .Medical treatment- 98%. Final Vn better than 6/36 in 66% .
Conclusion: Common age of presentation of vitreous hemorrhage is 40-60 years with male preponderance . Unilateral – common.PDR – common etiology . Specific line of therapy where etiology was established resulted in early resolution , reduced recurrence rate and useful visual recovery.
