Objective : To describe the prevalence, ocular findings and associated associations of coloboma
Materials and Methods : The medical records of cases with coloboma were retrospectively reviewed
Results : Out of the total of 680 , 438 (64.5%) were male while 242 (35.7%) were female. Most cases presented at 11-20 yrs of age( 26%) and from West Bengal (20.7%). Iris Coloboma was bilateral in 30 % cases. Choroid Coloboma was bilateral in 44.7 % of cases. Cases were unilateral in 55.3 % of cases with the right and left eye being equally represented. Microcornea and glaucoma were equally associated with uniocular and binocular cases. Nystagmus was more in binocular cases while Microphthalmos was seen more in unipolar cases
Conclusion : Males were affected more as compared to females. Maximum cases from West Bengal and second and third decades of life. Nystagmus being an indicator of poor visual prognosis is more associated with bipolar cases than uniocular cases.
