Introduction : Thelazia Callipaeda is a genus of nematode which were reported in eyes of animals, birds and mammal hosts and seldomly in eyes of humans ,hereby presenting an case report of Thelazia in conjunctival sac .
Case report: 80yr male patient, presented in operation theater for cataract surgery where thread like whitish in color, 3 worms were observed in conjunctival sac ,picked up with foreceps and sent to ocular pathology lab in normal saline. one of the worm on direct visualization under Axiocam-Mrc- Zeiss microscope measured 16.8mm in length and 0.1mm in thickeness . The head part of worm showed rectangular buccal cavity with tooth ,prominent transverse scarliform striations were observed all over the surface and uterus showed multiple eggs and few transformed smaller nematodes within the cavity. cataract surgery was then abandoned and thorough wash given with antibiotics.
Conclusion : Gravid female thelazia in human conjunctival sac is a rare observation.
