Purpose:To report a new modified technique for sutureless glueless scleral fixation of 3 piece posterior chamber intraocular lens(IOL) using 26-G needle for management of aphakia and to assess clinical outcomes and complications.
Material&method:25 eyes of 25 patients with aphakia, dislocated IOL,subluxated crystalline lens who underwent 26-G needle guided scleral fixation of 3 piece posterior chamber IOL according to the described technique were prospectively studied.
Result:Mean BCVA preoperatively was 1.38±0.37 and postoperatively at 3 months was 0.38±0.31.Significant improvement in mean BCVA was observed after procedure.None of eyes developed intraoperative or postoperative complications.IOLs had appropriate centration & stability.
Conclusion:This new technique for intrascleral IOL fixation is simple, minimally invasive, cost effective & seems to be good alternative in IOL implantation in eyes with deficient capsules in prospect of decrease in learning time & risk for complications.
