INTRODUCTION: HOAs and increased incidence of dry eye after advanced refractive procedures are major issue of concern now days.
METHODS: Non – randomized prospective observational study. Patients with myopia and myopic astigmatism From Jan 2015 to May 2016 were considered in our study. Patients were followed up for 6 months after the refractive procedure. Descriptive analysis, paired t-test and independent t-test analysis done.
RESULTS:The study enrolled 160 eyes of 80 patients with myopia and myopic astigmatism. Both the procedures were found to give visual stability of 6/6 or better by 1 month.HOAs were induced more in FS-LASIK then in SMILE group as in Root Mean Square (RMS), Horizontal Coma (HC), and Spherical Aberration (SA).SMILE group have lesser dry eye then in patient undergoing FS-LASIK.
CONCLUSION:From this study we conclude that both FS-LASIK and SMILE induce significant higher order aberrations. However, the HOAs and dry eye induced by FS-LASIK were more compared to SMILE.
