INTRODUCTION: Patient satisfaction is the key determinant of the quality of care. NABH has developed eye care standards, with which optimum results can be achieved with available resources.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Accreditation is a status that is conferred on an organization when they met particular standards. National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Health Care Providers (NABH) is a constituent Board of Quality Council of India, set up with the co-operation of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India and the Indian Health Industry. NABH has designed a healthcare standard for hospitals and healthcare providers which consists of 500 plus objectives for the hospital. For this, the hospital will need to have a process-driven approach in all aspects of hospital activities from registration, admission, pre, peri and post-surgery, discharge to follow-up.
CONCLUSION: Accreditation is a framework that helps to establish systems for transforming and upgrading eye care.
