Introduction: Intraocular foreign body(IOFB) has a varied presentation, outcome and prognosis which depend of various factors. A projectile IOFB has less disruption and carries more favorable prognosis.
Method: A 27 year old sculptor had presented with slight blurring of vision, o n examination his visual acuity was —-. Injury mark was visible on cornea & normal Anterior Chamber & lens. On examination of posterior segment a stone particle was found to be lodged in the retina over the supero-temporal arcade. There was no other associated. Patient developed cataract which was operated upon with no intervention for the intraocular stone. On long term follow up patient maintained the vision of —-
Conclusion: Line of management & prognosis depend on the extent of injury by IOFB. When it is present in the retina any intervention to remove it might lead complications like retinal detachment, hemorrhage,etc. Hence it should be only monitored & intervened only if vision deteriorates.
