Aim:To evaluate the induced corneal astigmatism following conventional trabeculectomy . Materials and methods: A prospective observational study was done in a tertiary eye care from May 2015-April 2017. 42 consecutive eyes of 36 patients who underwent trabeculectomy with a square scleral flap and two 10-0 nylon sutures were included in the study. The postoperative induced astigmatism on 1st post-operative day,end of 1st ,3rd and 6th months were determined by keratometry. Statistics: Vector analysis was performed on the data using computerized method for calculating the surgically induced astigmatism (SIA) for each eye at every time point. Results :Mean SIA gradually decayed from 1.73 D (99⁰) on 1st post op day to 1.5 D (58⁰) at the end of 1st month,0.50 (21⁰) at 3 months. Conclusion:Post trabeculectomy refractive status stabilizes after 3 months so any second surgery either cataract or refractive should be deferred till at least 3-6 months to minimize refractive surprises
