Aim -To compare the efficacy, side effects and recurrence rate of the vkc with 0.03% and 0.1% Tacrolimus.Study design -Prospective randomized comparative observational study between April16- March 17. Method -72 patients were randomly treated with either 0.03% or 0.1% Tacrolimus eye ointment BD for six months with fortnightly follow up.Outcome measures -Scoring of symptoms and signs (TSSS/TOSS) at baseline and each follow up. Results-52 patients with comparable baseline characters were analysed. With treatment TSSS decreased consistently in both the groups while decrease in TOSS was significantly higher in palpebral variety.An increase in scores was noticed at two weeks after drug withdrawl in both groups. Adverse effects scoring was more in Group B especially with bulbar varient.Conclusion;Tacrolimus 0.03% is more tolerant with similar efficacy while Tacrolimus.01% is more advantageous on predominantly palpebral variety.There was no effect of strength on sustainability of effect.
