Purpose: To identify the long-term changes in optic disc and risk factors for progression among treated JOAG pts.
Methods: Retrospective observational study of 74 eyes of 37 pts with ≥5 years f/u. Baseline clinical characteristics were noted and HRT stereoparametic trend & Moorfield regression analsysis was used to detect progression. Progression free survival probability was calculated using Kalpan-Meier curve and hazard ratio.
Results: Optic disc progression was noted in 11 eyes (14.86%) with mean time to progression of 5.25±3.6yrs. Age at diagnosis <25yrs, familial disease, clinically evident inheritance pattern, myopia >6DS, baseline IOP ≥35mmHg and disc area ≤2.50mm2 were identified as risk factors with myopia >6DS showing 5x higher risk. A change in disc shape/peripapillary atrophy was seen in 8/11 (72.72%) progressed eyes.
Conclusion: Among treated JOAG patients, high myopia was the strongest risk factor and many progressed eyes also showed an alteration in disc morphology.
