OBJECTIVES:
(a) To evaluate the changes in epithelial thickness over a period of 3 months in eyes that underwent PRK using SDOCT.
(b) To evaluate and compare the aimed versus achieved FT in eyes that underwent microkeratome LASIK and FEMTOLASIK using SDOCT.
STUDY DESIGN:
A prospective, observational & comparative study
METHODOLOGY:
45 patients (90 eyes) included in this study underwent preoperative screening & Heidelberg SDOCT is used preoperatively to measure central tear film thickness, epithelial thickness, stromal thickness and total corneal thickness. Patient is counselled for PRK, microkeratome LASIK or FEMTOLASIK surgery based on the eligibility of the procedure.
RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS
1. In PRK group, there is insignificant increase in epithelial thickness at 3rd month after surgery without affecting the refractive outcome of the surgery.
2. The achieved FT correlated well with the planned FT (100 µm) in both SBK Microkeratome LASIK group and FS200 FEMTOLASIK group.
