Aim was to study clinical profile & evaluate visual outcome of ocular trauma <15 yrs patients(total 23) attending OPD & casualty from 1/10/2017-31/12/2017.Data like age,sex,activity at time of injury,identifiable objects causing injury,presence or absence of supervision during injury were noted with followup period of 60 days.Age group most affected was >= 7 yrs(Boys 78% girls 22%).Adnexal injuries in 8% eyes,closed & open globe injuries in 48% and 44% respectively.Most children reported to casualty within 12 hours(56% eyes),remaining after 12 hours(44%). Injury caused by blunt objects(14%),household objects(10%),sports injury(69%),accidental fall(4%),burn(8%) & rest (19%). Best corrected VA of more than 6/18 achieved in 2 children,6/18-6/60 in 4 eyes,lesss than 6/60-counting finger close range in 6 eyes.Boys were more affected.Common causes were blunt & household objects(toys). Places of injury were home,playground & others.We concluded supervision is essential in mitigating injury.
