Aim:To evaluate efficacy of DEX implant on BCVA & micromorphic parameters on SDOCT in DME

Method:Retrospective study of 42 DME eyes undergoing DEX implant. Changes in BCVA, CMT, largest cystoid area(LCA) & micromorphic recovery of retinal layers evaluated at baseline & 1,3&6 month

Result:Compared to baseline, significant improvement noted in BCVA(LogMAR:0.61), CMT(545.71µ) & LCA(0.2mm2) at all visits with peak effect at 1 month(BCVA:0.53,p<.05;CMT: -186.82 µ;p<.05; LCA:0.06mm2; p<.05) & early recurrence at 3(BCVA:0.56;CMT: -144µ; LCA:0.08mm2) & 6 month(BCVA:0.57;CMT: -74µ; LCA:0.15mm2), with rebound being quantitatively less than baseline. Dry macula was achieved in 33.3% eyes at 1 & 3 months and 11% eyes at 6 months with recurrence seen in 81.8% eyes at 6 month. At 6 month, ELM & EZ regeneration was seen in 33% & 18% eyes with SMD resolution in 70% of eyes

Conclusion:Intravitreal DEX in DME shown significant improvement in BCVA & promising outcomes of micromorphic parameters on OCT
