Methods: Patients who underwent bilateral cataract surgery with Eyecryl ACTV MFIOL & Acrisof Restor MFIOLs were studied. The parameters studied and compared between the 2 groups were: UCVA for distance, near and intermediate, higher order aberrations in scotopic and photopic conditions as measured on Hoya I-trace aberometer, contrast sensitivity by Pelli Robson chart, stereopsis by Titmus fly test, and defocus curve from +2D to -4D in 0.5D steps . Results: The UCVA for distance was significantly better in the Restor patient group (P value 0.004), and UCVA for near was significantly better in the Eyecryl group (P value 0.001). Intermediate UCVA was not statistically significant between the 2 groups. There was no significant difference in the higher order aberrations, stereopsis, and photopic contrast sensitivity between the 2 groups, while the mesopic contrast sensitivity was significantly better in the Restor group. Conclusion: Overall, both the MFIOLs performed fairly well.
