Mr.Shankar Nag, v17381
A 54 year old female contact lens user presented with redness, pain and defective vision in the left eye since 2 days. Slitlamp examination showed a corneal infiltrate measuring 6 × 7 mm. patient was aphakic and was using contact lens from the past 15 years for refractive correction. Vision on presentation was perception of light.
Corneal scrapings showed gram negative rods in grams stain.Culture grew pseudomonas aerginosa. we have started the patient on Moxifloxacin 0.5% hrly, fortified tobramycin 1.4% hourly.Prednislone acetate 1% 2 hourly was added to the above regimen for controling the inflammation with close observation. On 1 Month follow-up the infiltration was resolved leaving an anterior stromal scar of 2 X 2 mm.The best corrected visual acuity also improved to 6/36.We believe topical steroids aided in the early recovery and limited the size of scar formation leading to better visual outcomes
