Anaesthesia is a crucial part of any surgical procedure and includes ophthalmic procedures also. While ophthalmic anaesthesia can be safe and a simple procedure, if the warning signals are missed, disaster can strike like a bolt from the blue. PURPOSE: To analyse the variations in vital signs after peribulbar anaesthesia. METHOD: A 12 month prospective study was conducted on 200 peribulbar blocks on cataract surgery candidates, without any co morbidities, and was monitored for 30mins post procedure, using multiparamonitor, and was analysed by RM ANOVA followed by post hoc. RESULTS: The analysis of variance compared with pre op values of variables like pulse, systolic, diastolic and mean arterial pressures were highly significant (p< 0.001). CONCLUSION: The results of this study helps to establish a baseline safety assessment of peribulbar anaesthesia and would help improvement in choice of anaesthetic technique in cataract surgeries
