Aim:To compare macular thickness and ganglion cell complex thickness (GCC) in normal, glaucoma and diabetic patients using SD-OCT.Methods – We compared GCC and retinal thickness parameters in 4 groups: normal, glaucoma, diabetes and those with both glaucoma and diabetes using RTvue SD-OCT (AVANTI). Results: GCC was significantly thinner in glaucoma group (total GCC-mean 65.9,SD 11.6) compared with others (p<0.001).Foveal thickness was significantly less in glaucoma (mean 223.2,SD 29.4) compared with diabetic group (mean 249.5,SD 19.3)(p<0.03).Retina was significantly thinner in both parafoveal(mean 268.7,SD 19.5) and perifoveal(mean 243.8,SD 10.6) regions in glaucoma patients compared with other groups (p<0.05). There was no significant difference in GCC and retinal thickness parameters in diabetic and normal groups. Conclusion:Ganglion cell complex and retinal thickness are significantly reduced in glaucoma patients compared to normal, diabetics and those with both(diabetes and glaucoma).
