Purpose: To study the change in visual function and quality of life in patients after cataract surgery. Methods: The study included 389 patients underwent cataract surgery, of these 350 (89.9) underwent phacoemulsification and 39(9.1%) underwent ECCE, the mean age of patients was 59.96±9.68 years and there were 170 (43.7%) males and 219(56/3%) females. All these patients underwent detailed interview for visual functions on IND VFQ that consisted of 33 questions and for quality of life EQ5D pre cataract surgery and 6 weeks after cataract surgery. Results: The overall score of VFQ for general functioning, psychosocial component and visual symptom improved significantly after cataract surgery (p=0.0001). The overall score for quality of life using EQ5D that consisted of mobility, self care, daily activity and pain improved significantly (p=0.0001). Conclusion: The visual function and quality of life improved significantly after cataract surgery.
