Aim: To study the enlargement of incision size after IOL injection in phacoemulsification with 2 IOL delivery systems(VivinexiSert® Preloaded IOL System & Ultrasert™ Pre-loaded IOL Delivery System
Methods: The study included 276 eyes of 220 patients. A 2.2mm temporal clear corneal phacoemulsification cataract surgery(INFINITI®) was done by same surgeon, with 138 eyes in each preloaded IOL System. Incision size was measured on 3 occasions by ASICO AE -1582T caliper ie.( 1) after clear corneal incision (2)after phacoemulsification;(3) after IOL implantation. Results:Mean increase in incision size in the Ultrasert group before & after phaco was 0.0507mm (2.20mm to 2.25mm) and after IOL implantation was 0.1159mm(2.25mm to 2.36mm).Mean increase in incision size in Vivinex group before and after phaco was 0.0507mm(2.20mm to 2.25mm) & after IOL implantation was 0.1177mm(2.25mm to 2.36mm). Conclusion: Incision enlargement were similar in both groups, with no significant difference.
