Optic disc pit(ODP) is rare congenital anomaly of the optic disc.Serous detachment of macula is most common complication of ODP & occurs in 25%–75% of cases.ODP maculopathy is characterized by intraretinal & subretinal fluid at macula, causing visual deterioration. We report a case 32 year old male with complaints of DOV RE since 1 month, sudden painless progressive,no h/o trauma or ocular diseases in family members. On examination, visual acuity in RE was CF 2 ft, with accurate projection of rays in all four quadrants, anterior segment was normal,on fundus evaluation we found optic disc pit with macular edema, finding confirmed by OCT showing optic disc pit with communicating subretinal fluid with foveoschisis.Patient was treated successfully with pars plana vitrectomy, with silicon oil tamponade.
Conclusion- Serous retinopathy associated with optic disc pit responds well to early vitrectomy & internal tamponade.Earlier surgical intervention is better approach & has good visual prognosis.
