Introduction
Seasonal hyperacute panuveitis (SHAPU) is a destructive unilateral intraocular disease reported only from Nepal.
Case report
A 25-year-male presented with sudden decreased vision in vision with painless red eye since 3 days. He had prior history of rubbing eyes after a white moth fell over his face. Visual acuity was 6/24,N8 and 6/6,N6 in each eye. Right eye(RE) was congested with multiple fine hair particles in cornea. Anterior chamber had 4+cells;2+flare and vitreous had 4+cells;3+haze obscuring the fundus. The left eye was unremarkable.
RE ultrasonography showed severe vitritis. Anterior segment OCT confirmed the presence of stromal hair particles. The aqueous and vitreous aspirates were negative for any microbial stain and culture. Intravitreal antibiotics and steroid was given. After 3 weeks, the inflammations resolved and the vision was 6/6,N6.
Conclusion
Contact with white moth is a strong risk factor for the SHAPUt its exact pathogesis is still mysterious.
