Purpose is to study the effect of insertion of foldable IOLs `In the Bag’ using anterior chamber maintainer on corneal endothelium. 45 eyes with cataract have been subjected to routine phaco. ACM was placed in lower part in such a way that phaco probe did not touch during emulsification. ACM infusion was also kept `ON’ during phaco & I / A. Hence AC would remain formed even after withdrawal of phaco & I / A probe. Foldable IOLs were placed as usual `In the Bag’. AC remained constantly formed due to BSS. At one month, patients were examined for BCVA, IOPr, Corneal endothelial cell count which were compared with pre op. count. Average corneal endothelial cell count was 2650 cells/mm2 (mean) pre op. (range 2170 to 3210 cells/mm2) and post op. it was 2610 cells/mm2 (mean) (range 2180 to 3290 cells/mm2). It was concluded that IOL insertion under BSS (Hydroinsertion) is very safe and effective procedure and saves complication arising out of inadequate visco clearance.
