Selection of IOL with specific SA according to corneal SA has become essential during pre phaco workup so as to have optimum ocular SA and best visual quality. Our aim is to find out whether this strategy works in Indian population. 80 eyes having senile cataract were included. Pre op. all eyes were evaluated for HOA by Wave Front Aberrometer, i-Trace. As per biometry, randomly selected IOLs of appropriate diopter were implanted without taking SA of cornea into consideration. After one month post op., all eyes were again examined by Wave Front Aberometer for HOA. At one month, post op BCVA was 6/9 mean. Pre op. HOA of cornea was 0.076 µm (mean), Internal HOA was 0.175 µm (mean) and total HOA was 0.15 µm (mean). At one month post op. HOA of cornea was 0.032 µm (mean), internal HOA was 0.028 µm (mean) and total HOA was 0.065 µm (mean). i-Trace measures HOA by taking pt’s pupil size, hence, HOA did not differ significantly and so no glare and haloes in Indian scenario.
