Aim- To study the role of intra-vitreal Bevacizumab in treating macular edema in a case of bilateral CRVO.
Material and Method- Fundus photography and OCT of a patient presenting with sudden painless diminution of vision was done and BCVA calculated. These were repeated after injecting intra-vitreal bevacizumab. Parameters analyzed- BCVA and central retinal thickness.
Result- Fundus photograph and OCT showed clinically significant macular edema and increased central retinal thickness in both eyes at presentation. After injecting bevacizumab, macular edema subsided significantly and finally disappeared. The central retinal thickness also reduced and BCVA improved significantly after injection.
Conclusion- Anti-VEGF agents are quite effective in controlling macular edema in retinal vaso-occlusive diseases and improving visual outcome. Bevacizumab is one of these agents that can be used in such cases.
