Keratometry in children is required for contact lens fitting and biometry for which often hand held autokeratometers are needed, as manual keratometers or IOL Master cannot be used in infants and unco-operative children. Errors in keratometry can lead to a considerable error in IOL power calculation in children, thus affecting the final refractive and visual outcome. Hence, the need for an accurate and reliable hand held keratometer for paediatric use cannot be over emphasized. Studies report the accuracy of various hand held keratometers like Nidek, Alcon, IK 4. This study is to present a significantly more economical alternative, SW100 hand held autokeratometer with accuracy comparable to Zeiss IOL Master (gold standard).
