FP51 : SCREENING IN SCHOOL GOING CHILDRENS UNDER FIVE YEARS OF AGE IN CENTRAL INDIA.

Introduction: According to VISION 2020 childhood blindness is of utmost importance. . Material and Methods: Study was conducted in all school screening about 2000 students of 21 schools. The study was conducted for a period of 3 years. Results: Male preponderance was seen. 32.6% were having refractive error. 2.5% were having strabismus. There was no statistical significance for the predictor of statistical significance. Discussion: Study suggested that childrens of 3 to 4 years are at high risk and should be screened with timely intervention. This lead to the recommendation of universal vision and eye screening for preschool and school going children all over the world. Conclusion: Teachers should be educated so that they can help the child in detecting the eye diseases early. Focus on high risk population should be done under the age of five years. Validity of eye screening of younger age childrens should be done before recommending at such a large scale
