Optic disc pit(ODP) is a rare congenital anomaly of the optic disc usually unilateral, with an equal gender predilection&an incidence of 1 in 11,000,which can be complicated by a maculopathy with progressive visual loss. They are usually asymptomatic however 25%-75% of pts, optic pit maculopathy(OPM) which causes visual deterioration, may be detected. An optic disc pit represents a defect in the lamina cribrosa;an ideal procedure to treat optic pit asso. macular detachment would be one that prevents the flow of fluid across the pit by creating an additional barrier.Numerous techniques have been described, including laser photocoagulation, intravitreal gas injection, macular buckling and pars plana vitrectomy with many different modifications. We herein report a case of OPM in a young male treated successfully with vitrectomy, fovea sparing internal limiting membrane flap& C3F8 tamponade. This technique showed satisfactory anatomic result with good functional improvement in visual acuity.
