To evaluate the demography, etiological factors, systemic and ocular associations and findings on neuroimaging of children with CVI

Retrospective analysis of case records of 85 children with CVI between March 2016 and March 2018 was done.Age, gender profile, etiological factors, cycloplegic refraction, optic disc findings, MRI finding, associated ocular and neurological abnormalities were noted.

There were 63 boys and 22 girls, mean age of 1.93 years;58.8% aged <2 years. Hypoxia ischemic encephalopathy(HIE) was the most common etiology(31.7%) followed by epilepsy(27%) .Refractive error was most common 49.4% while strabismus in 47%.Nystagmus was seen in 40% while pale disc in 36.5%. Developmental delay in 64.7% and seizures in 47%.MRI abnormalities were present in 76.4% with HIE 32.9% being the most common.HIE was found to be the most common cause of CVI, with refractive error and strabismus the common ocular associations and correction of same helps in visual improvement of these children
