PURPOSE: To evaluate refractive changes after lens sparing vitrectomy for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and to evaluate changes in lens morphology.METHOD:Retrospective evaluation of 56 eyes with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment operated by 23GTransconjunctival vitrectomy from july 2015 to july 2017 were evaluated.Follow up was noted upto 6 months.RESULT:Out of 56 patients, 42 patients were belongs to silicon oil group and 15 patients with gas.We observed significant and continous myopic shift in eyes with gas after vitrectomy throughout the study period. The mean spherical equivalent (SE) in silicon oil was 0.97 and mean (SE) in gas was 0.33. Patients who underwent cataract surgery were significantly older than who did not; no other parameters was significantly different between groups. CONCLUSION: Significant and continuous myopic shift observed in eyes with gas as compared to silicon oil group.
