Aim:To compare foveal, parafoveal and perifoveal thickness using 3 different SD-OCT systems.
Methods:It was a prospective study where normal subjects age between 20-50 years were included.Subjects
with any ocular surgery, systemic and retinal disease were excluded. All subjects underwent foveal, parafoveal thickness and perifoveal thickness measurement using Optovue OCT,Optovue OCT Angio
and Zeiss OCT.
Results:40 eyes of 20 subjects with mean±Sd age 22.2±1.66 years were included. The foveal and
perifoveal thickness was similar among all three instruments(p>0.05).Parafoveal thickness measured using 3 instruments was similar except superior region (p<0.05).Superior parafoveal thickness was statistically
significantly lower with Zeiss OCT as compared to Optovue OCT Angio however this difference was
clinically insignificant.
Conclusion:Foveal, parafoveal and perifoveal thickness measurements using 3 different OCT systems were similar and these machines can be used interchangeably by clinicians.
