A two year study is done in tertiary care hospital in which 540 patient are undergone complete eye examination with detail history recorded.The observation found were -The incidence of ocular injuries in male was 82.96% compared to 17.04 in female thus comprising a male/female ratio of 4.86:1,incident of ocular injuries was found to be highest in second & third decades of life 55.5%,incidence of non occupational injuries was more 84.50% as compared to occupational injuries comprising 15.50%,mechanical injuries comprised 92.03% and were more common as compared to non mechanical injuries like chemical,thermal & radiation injuries.Blunt injuries comprised the majority 53.8% amongst all other types of ocular injuries (p>0.05,which is significant).Perforating eye injuries were seen in 14.6% of thetotal eye injuries(p<0.05,which is significant). Final visual outcome is dependent on the structures injured.
