Purpose-analysing the clinico biological profile of selective laser trabeculoplasty(SLT) and its role modulating corneal anatomy, especially central corneal thickness(CCT) and endothelial cell count(ECC)
Method- 32 eyes from 21 cases diagnosed POAG but not controlled from medical therapy prepared for SLT which performed 180° at a single session. Baseline best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), CCT, ECC measured and repeated on 2nd and 4th post session visit. Outcome measures compared with specific statistical tests
Result- SLT can lead to reversible reduction of ECC, and CCT. It was notable that the mean CCT from baseline 538.4 µm to 529 µ and mean ECC from baseline 2378/ mm² to 2354/mm² at 4th week post SLT(p< 0.05) Conclusion-beside significant IOP control SLT brings forth local inflammatory response that affects corneal stroma and endothelial cells. Though reversible still the decompensation could be debilitating for patients who experience blurring of vision in early post SLT session
