36 eyes were randomised to undergo Phacotrabeculectomy with Ologen or MMC.
Primary Objective:assess/compare success rates & percentage IOP reduction at 6months.
Secondary Objectives:assess/compare complications & adverse events & qualitatively evaluate Bleb Morphology by ASOCT.Data analysed at 6 months.
Reduction in IOP was significantly higher in Ologen group(p<0.05).Complete success(IOP≤ 18 mmHg) was achieved in 100% & 66.7% subjects in Ologen and MMC group (p=0.01).Qualified success achieved in 33.33% patients in MMC group.6patients in MMC group & none in Ologen group required antiglaucoma drugs.ASOCT bleb height were higher with aqueous lake in MMC group while lower with multiple small pockets in Ologen group.
1 patient underwent needling in MMC group while 1 had bleb leak requiring scleral patch graft in Ologen group.Additional interventions in MMC group were more(8vs5;p=0.04).
Combined phacotrabeculectomy with Ologen is a safe & effective surgery with significant reduction of IOP
