FP309 : A Rare Case Of Orbital Cysticercosis: Case Report

Purpose

Neurocysticercosis is a common parasitic infection in india.Ocular and Orbital Cysticercosis has varied presentations,more common in children and young adults.

Case Report

A 12 year old girl presented to our hospital with chief complaint of drooping of upper eyelid of right eye since 2 months.There were no other ocular complaints. There was no history of trauma or epilepsy or any systemic illness. The visual acuity was 6/6(p) in both the eyes.On examination there was severe ptosis of Right Eye with ”Good Bell’s phenomenon” and poor LPS function with ocular movements present in all four directions. Anterior as well as posterior segment of eye was normal. She was further investigated by MRI, CT Orbit+PNS and USG.CT SCAN showed possibility of neurocysticercosis.USG also showed cyst with scolex s/o cysticersosis.Patient was managed with topical antibiotics,systemic steroids and Albendazole and was followed up regularly.
