Introduction
A retrospective case series of five cases of CNV complicating tubercular choroiditis, their presentation and management is highlighted.
Method
Records and imaging of five patients who had tubercular choroiditis who subsequently developed CNV were retrospectively reviewed.
Result
All the five patients had healed chorioretinal scars with no active inflammation when they presented with CNV. The CNV were located adjacent to chorioretinal scars. Treatment with ranibizumab resulted in a favourable visual outcome in four cases with a mean of 2.25 injections per patient. One patient had persistant activity after three injections but CNV resolved after two injectons of aflibercept. Mean pre-injection visual acuity was logmar 0.9 which improved to logmar 0.44 at the end of treatment.
Conclusion
Occurrence of CNV in healed tubercular choroiditis scars can be seen. These patients warrant long follow up. CNV can cause profound visual loss but has a favourable outcome when treated
