Agricultural trauma is an important cause of ocular injury in India as farming is a common occupation.Ocular injuries in such a setting have a high chance of intraocular infection and permanent loss of sight.A 41 year old female agriculture worker gave history of falling from a tree and injured her left eye.On examination the vision was PL+.There was a subconjunctival wooden fragment in ITQ,with full thickness corneo-scleral tear with iris prolapse ,hyphaema, vitreous hemorrhage with possible retinal and choroidal detachment.Primary corneal tear repair with vitrectomy+ gas injection with intraocular antibiotics was done. Two weeks later, her BCVA in left eye was 6/6 with aphakic correction +12.00,-1.00 at 180 for which contact lens trial was given but she complained of excess photophobia for which aniridic iol was done in left eye and doing well postoperatively .Timely surgery for trauma repair with a close watch for secondary complications can salvage the function in many eyes.
