A clinical prospective quantitative and qualitative study was conducted from January, 2015 to September, 2016. 282 patients who underwent uncomplicated cataract surgery (MSICS or Phacoemulsification) with implantation of IOL were included in the study. IOL’S included were rigid PMMA, Non-Premium Foldable Spherical, Premium Monofocal Aspheric hydrophilic, Premium Monofocal Aspheric Hydrophobic,
Multifocal and Toric IOL’s.
Premium IOL’s, especially Multifocal IOL’s (60.0%) had significantly better post
operative UCDVA compared to Non-premium IOL’s 1 month after cataract surgery. Contrast
sensitivity was significantly higher in Premium Monofocal IOL’s and Toric IOL compared to
Multifocal IOL’s and PMMA IOL’s (P value 0.001). Post-operative Quality of vision was reported
to be higher in patients with Multifocal IOL’s and Premium Monofocal IOL’s compared with Toric
IOL’s and Non-Premium IOL’s (P value <0.001) but gain was maximum in Toric IOLS
