Methods- 50 trainees were given a questionnaire asking difficulty level of various steps in SICS in a 5 point scale ranging from very easy to very difficult and were asked measures that can be taken to learn and improve the steps. Results-Total 50 trainees completed the questionnaire. Median age was 27 years with 38% males and 6% females. I & A (mean+SD = 4.02 + 0.59), rotation and delivery of nucleus (3.90+0.74) and CCC (3.82+0.66) are the steps that were considered most difficult. The measures that can be taken to improve these steps will be discussed. Conclusion-MSICS is very important in a developing country like India where the load of cataract surgery is high and phacoemulsification is not available in all centres. To identify the steps in surgery which are considered difficult to learn by trainees will help the training institutions to prepare a surgical training module which focuses on these specific steps for a more efficient and productive learning.
