Objectives: To evaluate visual outcome and complications of retro pupillary iris-claw IOL implantation for correction of surgical aphakia in eyes with inadequate capsular support.
Methods: A retrospective analysis over a period of 1 year (2017), of 15 eyes of 15 pts without capsular support, in which we performed retro pupillary iris-claw implantation after anterior vitrectomy. Iris claw lens was either implanted in the same procedure (9 eyes, Group A) or later in different procedure after 1 month (6 eyes, Group B). Analysis was done with follow up period of min 1 week to max 6 months. Results: The mean patient age was 66.4 years (range, 55-76 years) in group A; 64.75 years (range, 59-73 years) in group B. At the end of follow up, mean post-operative BCVA was satisfactory and comparable in both groups. 2 eyes had raised IOP and 1 CME noted. Conclusion: Good visual outcomes, better stability of lens and less complications indicate iris claw lens implantation is a good option in correcting surgical aphakia.
