Intoduction-
Retrospective study of cases of Basal Cell Carcinoma of lids treated at Govt. Tertiary Hospital which required wide local excision and reconstruction done by various rotational flaps.
Aim – To study the results in terms of
• an aesthetic and
• functional outcome to reestablish the eye lid for its primary role of protecting the eye ball.
Methods- We studied various cases of Basal cell carcinoma at various lid positions and treated them with wide local excision and Eyelid reconstruction primarily using various rotational flaps like Mustarde’s flap and noted the results.Lid was sutured in two layers,General surgical principles followed. Postop. wound care was important
Conclusion
• In our case series , even very large lid defects were successfully treated with Rotational Flaps .
• All patients are doing well with excellent results both anatomically and functionally.
• So in all our patients eyeball is protected well with a functioning lid.
