ABSTRACT
PURPOSE- To evaluate ocular diseases and management provided to children attending tertiary centre
METHODS-A retrospective study on children in Jharkhand from June 2017 to May 2018 .Out of 2536 children, 2060 children of 10-15years age were included in study. Data on age at presentation, sex and diagnosis were compiled from clinical charts and analyzed.
RESULT-Among 2060 children examined, male:female ratio was 2.25:1. Refractive errors were most common 1332(64.6%), followed by conjunctival diseases 508(24.6%), lacrimal drainage disorders 158(7.6%). 1332(64.6%) required glasses, 508(24.6%) needed medical management, 158(7.6%) needed surgery.
CONCLUSION- Refractive error and conjunctival diseases were leading causes. Male preponderance observed. Most children relieved by optical correction followed by medical treatment.
