AIM:To compare laser DCR with and without bicanalicular silicone intubation.METHODS:This was a prospective study done during 2 yrs in 78 patients of NLD blockage divided in 2 groups.The first group of 42 patients went through laser dcr without intubation and the other group of 36 had laser dcr with binalicular intubation.A single surgeon performed all the surgeries.Cases were followed up at 1,7 and after 90 days..RESULTS:The success rate in the group 1 and 2 was 69 % and 91.7 % respectively with reference to relief from epiphora and discharge.The patency of NLD was confirmed by syringing done on follow up visits.No complications were reported whatsoever.CONCLUSION:The study has proved that laser DCR with bicanalicular intubation is more successful than the one without it.The result has been in accordance with the studies done in the past over the same. In today’s era laser DCR is highly recommended as it is delivering good outcomes with patient satisfaction and better cosmetic results.
