Ocular manifestations of SLE are common & may lead to permanent blindness from the underlying disease. In SLE, ocular involvement extremely varied,retinal vasculitis &optic neuritis are vision threatening complication.We report a case of 12 year old female came with complains of unilateral rapid decrease in vision for 1 month.Vision was perception of light with accurate projection of rays in all four qudrant,anterior segment was within normal limit. Fundus examinations revealed multiple deep & flame shaped hemorrhage in affected eyes.OCT displayed macular oedema. FFA showed multiple retinal arteriolar occlusions.Rheumatologist was consulted for investigation,a diagnosis of SLE made, treated with corticosteroid &immunosuppressive medication.
Conclusion- Vasoocclusive retinopathy is rare presentation of SLE promptly initiated proper treatment.It is crucial for ophthalmologists to be equipped with the knowledge to detect & treat the disorder to avoid vision threatening complications.
