The authors teach how one can use an inexpensive virtual reality headset to watch 3D surgical videos and 3D ophthalmic photos which are freely available online. The author guides how to obtain 3D content and to calibrate the Virtual Reality Headset for viewing 3D.
The author also discusses how to make 3D photos and videos.
The advantages of 3D videos and photos in ophthalmology are stressed on and the ease of viewing such 3D content in this day and age make it very important to use this for regular ophthalmology teaching programmes.
The various other methods of viewing 3D are also covered and the best method for 3D classroom teaching is discussed.
The authors hope to add value to the ophthalmology teaching programme with the use of this innovative teaching method which has now become easily available due to recent advances in low cost technologies.
