PURPOSE:
A retrospective study to evaluate the demographic and clinical profile of patients presenting with intermittent divergent squint.
METHODS:
A retrospective chart review of all the patients with Intermittent divergent squint from a period of 2007 to 2017 was done.
RESULTS:
Out of total 189 patients with IDS 92 males (48.6% ) and 97 females (51.4% ) with the age group of 1 year to 64 year with an average age 16.6 year were present. Among them 158 (83.6%) had divergence excess Out of 158, 23 patients with a mean horizontal angle of 48.34PD (range 25- 80 PD) were managed surgically. 18 patients underwent bilateral lateral rectus recession and 5 underwent unilateral lateral rectus recession with medial rectus resection. On follow up of 6 month 1 patient showed consecutive esotropia of 10 PD and 5 showed residual exotropia of 10 ±5 PD
CONCLUSIONS:
In our study majority of patients with IDS were of divergence excess type and showed good cosmetic outcome at 6 month follow up.
