Visual results of 80 eyes, 40 eyes in each group with myopia and myopic astigmatism that underwent LASIK i.e. conventional LASIK or wavefront guided LASIK based on Fourier’s algorithm was reported. These patients were divided in two groups randomly using a code generated by the computer software, that is group I the conventional LASIK group and group II that is wavefront guided group (WFG).Follow-up was done for all the patients at 1st week, 1st month and 3rdmonths and uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), contrast sensitivity(CS) and glare were evaluated post-operatively at each visit. Though the postoperative visual acuity was slightly better in the WFG group, there wasn’t a significant difference in visual acuity postoperatively in both the groups .Glare symptoms were significantly lesser in the wavefront guided group and contrast sensitivity was also significantly better in wavefront guided group thus proving that wavefront guided LASIK is superior to conventional LASIK.
