Purpose – To report a case of retinal vasculitis seen after typhoid fever.
Method – A 32 year old male presented with sudden ,painless diminution of vision in his left eye. Fundus examination showed white fluffy areas of deep retinitis patches inferotemporal to the fovea with large area of neurosensory detachment in the macular area . History revealed typhoid fever 3 weeks prior to the presentation .Systemic steroids tapered over two months showed clinical improvement.
Results – Visual acuity improved from counting fingers 3 metres to 6/18 with systemic steroids.
Conclusion – Timely management of immune mediated retinal vasculitis with neurosensory detachment post typhoid fever with systemic steroids prevents recurrences and provides good visual prognosis.
